Gene Expression profiling with HTS: RNA-Seq data analysis

Mon 19 October 2015 to Thu 22 October 2015
CINECA Auditorium, Rome, Italy

Organised by ELIXIR Italy in collaboration with CINECA and Sapienza University of Rome, this training course will introduce the participants to the primary analysis of datasets generated through the RNA-Seq assays. The topics covered by the programme:

  • High-throughput sequencing (HTS) technologies and their application to gene expression analysis (RNA-Seq)
  • key steps in the data analysis pipeline (such as quality control, alignment, summarization) along with most commonly used software
  • Dataset specific downstream analysis, including quantification of expression, transcriptome assembly and differential expression analysis

This course is aimed at PhD students and post-doctoral researchers who are considering or already generating next-generation sequencing datasets, but have no or limited experience in data analysis. Participants with no UNIX/Linux experience will be provided with basic understanding of the command-line operations in the first day of the course.
