ELIXIR Beacon internship to support the development of the ELIXIR Beacon implementation study
The internship will support the Beacon implementation study and the Beacon activities driven by the Human Genomics and Translational Data Services at the ELIXIR Hub. The work will involve software development and support of community building activities. The software development activities will include working with GA4GH Beacons working groups to facilitate the development, implementation and use of Beacon & Beacon Network API specifications. Community building activities will include, among others things, supporting ELIXIR and GA4GH Beacon meetings and helping to develop and maintain the Beacon community & Github repository.

The internship would be ideal for people with some programming experience and willing to learn to get more expertise in a Bioinformatics and/or Open-Source community project. Some knowledge of either Python, Java or Golang, as well as distributed version control and source code management systems like GitHub are desirable; Knowledge of Protocol Buffers would be a plus. The candidate is also expected to work closely together with ELIXIR Hub intern on Bioschemas and on External Relations.
The internship will be based in ELIXIR Hub at the Wellcome Genome Campus located in Hinxton, 8 miles south of Cambridge. We offer a stimulating, international environment and an attractive campus connected to Cambridge via a free bus service. A stipend will be offered to the selected intern.
